The first day of the week long extensive course started with an introduction to the Workshop which we will be using throughout the week.
I met clients from MOD. (museum of discovery) which will open in 2018 where our products and creations will be on display and for sale to the public.
I also spoke to Match Studio, who are the organisers of this exhibition.
“match studio is a dynamic space where students, academics and researchers from the University of South Australia
can step outside of their knowledge domains to generate out-of-the-box ideas and co-create feasible innovations
that address challenges faced by society.”
My idea started with a large human size bubble, a place for one to climb into and escape the chaotic and stressful world.
Having to scale it down I looked into “face shields” and “helmets” where ones head could be fully covered to escape a bad environment.
Having spoken to our clients, the product needs to be quite small in order to be shelved and put on display. This product also needs to consider a market and persona for sale and possible re creation on mass if the product is wanted for extra sales.
My first idea for this was inspired by a mushroom I used to find in a forest next to my house in France. It was a puffing mushroom which when aged would dry inside and puff out dark powdery smoke when squeezed. I thought of a round stress ball, something to fidget and play with as distraction. To incorporate scent and touch I would scent a powder inside and create a textured outside material.
